When something is wrong
Factual errors should be corrected promptly and directly. A correction should repair the inaccurate statement without quietly changing the meaning of the article or hiding the original problem.
Corrections, clarifications and updates
A correction addresses an error. A clarification improves wording that was technically defensible but easy to misunderstand. An update adds material evidence or context published after the original story. Meaningful changes receive an updated date and, when necessary, a visible note.
How to report a concern
Identify the article, the exact sentence or claim in question, and the source that supports your concern. Every message is reviewed on its substance; agreement with the article’s conclusion is not required.
